3.5 if i could as i'm deducting points for lack of sitting space and pretty long ish wait times. customer service is great! they're super nice and helpful. it does suck that there that space is so small and they have no dining spaces in order to enjoy their food. so i just go to plentea, buy a drink and sit and eat there if i'm in a time crunch. also, the wait times, even when there's no line, does take a hot minute. i can appreciate that they're making everything fresh but i've waited up to 15-20 mins for food before and under the blazing sun of financial district, i'm fried. what i can say is great is their portions and good flavors. THOUGH they give more curry than rice so expect leftovers of curry sauce for home. i personally recommend their underrated cheese omelette curry as most places doesn't have a dish like so. (croquette is meh and the karaage is very seasoned but average.) i wanna try more stuff on their menu but the cheese omelette is always a safe n delicious choice :)
Stopped by here after seeing a patient nearby. The service was pretty quick given how long the line was and the guy taking the order was really nice. I got the combo curry with chicken karaage and egg omelette. The egg omelette was delicious. The chicken was nice and crispy and the batter had good flavor which I liked, but for me, I think the combo of the curry and fried chicken was a lot. I wish the meal came with a little bit more pickled cabbage, and radishes personally. The beef curry was just a little bit too oily for me as well. however, these complaints are minor and if I'm ever craving curry now I know a nice spot I can go to.
Okay so hot take I like their gyudon + karage combo better than their curries but lemme just say that meal was 10/10. Even the small karage is ton of food and it's pretty good on its own and the sauce is nice too. The gyudon was pretty filling and large, the sauce with the rice is amazing. I've had the curry and it's really great, but will still recommend my combo over it. Def order ahead during lunch hour cause it takes a while and there's no place to wait besides the sidewalk
Chicken katsu curry medium spicy Nicely done Good heat Takeout only Curry sauce perfect Chicken dry like wood JYW recommends trying the pork katsu next time
Tbh I don't even like Japanese curry all that much but I heard this place was good, so I had to try what they're known for. I ordered: Chicken Karaage (Large): This had huge pieces of chicken. Crispy on the outside and moist inside. Try it with the curry sauce but don't forget to squeeze the lemon on it first. It is mind blowing! Chicken Katsu Curry: Crispy chicken katsu on a bed of rice, pickled ginger and cabbage with curry sauce on the side. Wow! I am now a fan of Japanese curry. I like to dip my katsu in the sauce instead of pouring the sauce over the katsu. I think I'll be craving this again very soon!
First of all, please be aware that this is a quick service window that has no seating inside. I was not super throw in my search of pictures and thought that there was seating inside and then had to improvise once I realized what the situation was so just calling that out to start off so that others don't do what I did. I absolutely love Japanese curry, and was so excited to have some in San Francisco. The spot was everything I could've dream of: fresh, delicious and affordable. If I worked in one of the office buildings nearby, I would be getting this every single day for lunch. The Karaage was perfectly cooked and the curry was the perfect level of spice. Will absolutely be back next time I'm in San Francisco.
Good option it's just a stop and go pick up window. And the food isn't classy or fancy but it's filling and tasty. The karrage curry is delicious but $16.95 The potato croquettes are nice but very common nothing out of this world. This place is good for quick food. Not extraordinary and very pricey for what your getting. Aleyas a wait during lunch 1145@-130p
